Bromhexine HCl
Indications/Uses
Tab/Soln: Act as mucolytic to facilitate productive cough. Amp: Secretolytic therapy in acute & chronic bronchopulmonary disease associated w/ abnormal mucus secretion & impaired mucus transport.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Adult & childn >12 yr 1 tab 3 times daily. Childn 6-12 yr ½ tab 3 times daily, 2-6 yr ½ tab 2 times daily. Soln Childn 5-10 yr 2 mL 3 times daily, 2-5 yr 2 mL 2 times daily. Amp Severe cases 1 amp as 2- to 3-min IV inj 2-3 times daily. Inj can also be given as an IV infusion w/ glucose, levulose, physiological saline or Ringer's soln.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Special Precautions
Tab/Soln: Severe skin reactions eg, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS)/toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) & acute generalised exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) associated w/ the administration of bromhexine HCl. Gastric ulcer. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Tab/Soln: Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting. Allergic reactions including skin rashes, urticaria, bronchospasm, angioedema & anaphylaxis.
